Osteomalacia

Osteomalacia is a condition where the body does not produce enough of the mineral calcium. This can lead to softening and weakening of bones, especially in children. It is also called rickets or vitamin D deficiency. Vitamin D is made from sunlight, so if you don’t get enough sun exposure it could be a contributing factor to osteomalacia. Osteomalacia can occur at any age but most commonly affects children between 1-5 years old as well as adults over 50 years old.

VITAMIN D DEFICIENCY

It can affect any part of your body, but it usually affects bones and teeth. When you are older, osteomalacia may cause bone loss in your hips or spine. If this happens, you will have more risk for fractures as you age. Osteomalacia also causes softening of the bones in your jaw (or mandible). This condition is called periodontal disease because it affects the gums (periodontal) around your teeth.

Will vitamin D deficiency ever rule the world?

  A. It will never rule the world because there is a lot of vitamin D in our food. There is enough vitamin D to feed us. If we get enough food, there will be no deficiency of vitamin D. We need to have adequate knowledge about vitamin D and foods.  B. It will never rule the world because it is not good for us to have too much calcium and phosphorus in our body at one time.   C. It will never rule the world because we can get enough vitamin D from sunlight and foods that are rich in vitamin D, such as fish liver oil, cod liver oil, egg yolks, fortified milk products and orange juice (which contains vitamin D).     D. We get enough sunlight in different parts of the world.    However, events such as war, epidemics, droughts, and economic depressions indicate vitamin D deficiency. The Great Depression was an economic depression that began in 1929 and ended with the start of World War II in 1939. It was one of the most severe economic crises...

The next big thing in vitamin D deficiency?

The next big thing in vitamin D deficiency is the realization that our bodies are not as efficient at producing vitamin D from sunlight as we once thought. In fact, many people don’t produce enough to meet their needs. This means that more and more of us need to be taking supplements or eating foods rich in vitamin D. This is a change from previous years when it was thought that most of us could get all the vitamin D we needed from exposure to sunshine (UVB). But now we understand that UVB doesn’t provide enough for everyone, so many of us need supplemental sources like food or supplements.

Can vitamin d deficiency cause hair loss?

Both vitamin D deficiency, as well as vitamin D excess , may cause hair loss . Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin that can be obtained through diet, but it is also produced by the body when exposed to sunlight. Although most people get enough vitamin d from food, some may not because they are deficient in this nutrient. Vitamin D deficiency can lead to rickets and osteomalacia (softening of bones), which cause skeletal deformities and bone pain. In addition, low levels of vitamin d have been associated with an increased risk for cardiovascular disease as well as certain cancers such as colon cancer and breast cancer. Treatment of vitamin d deficiency The treatment of vitamin D deficiency depends on the severity and duration of deficiency. In mild cases, oral supplementation with vitamin D3 may be sufficient. However, in severe cases, such as those with rickets (a bone disease), the condition must be corrected surgically by removing or replacing any affected bones. Who is at risk ...
