Osteomalacia is a condition that causes the bones to become soft and weak. The most common symptoms are pain in the hip or knee, loss of muscle mass and weakness in your legs. Osteomalacia can also cause low blood pressure (hypotension), which may be mistaken for a heart attack or stroke.
